In compliance with the Decision of the Council of Ministers dated 10.10.2011, No: 2011/2306 which will come into force as of 01.02.2012, total duration of stay of foreigners who visit Turkey as tourists cannot exceed 90 days in a period of 180 days.

The above-mentioned new practice will not change the existing visa regime of Turkey and will affect all foreigners visiting Turkey as tourists with visas issued by the diplomatic/consular missions of Turkey, stamp visas or without any visas benefitting from a visa free regime.

On the other hand, according to the said Decision of the Council of Ministers, upon the applications of the foreigners, their residence permits may be prolonged to maximum 90 days in Turkey, if the duration of stay of the visa free regime or the duration of the residence period on their visas is less than 90 days.
